GAMBARAN STATUS KARIES PADA KELOMPOK USIA 6-12 TAHUN BERDASARKAN INDEKS MASSA TUBUH (IMT)
Dental caries and high body mass index are major public health problems because of their adverse effects on children's growth and development. Overweight and oral health are associated because they both have the same risk factor, namely diet. Children who have caries or are overweight will interfere with their metabolic processes and can cause systemic disease. The aim of this study was to describe the dental caries status in the 6-12 year age group based on body mass index. This research was conducted by conducting a literature study on several literatures as a reference and analyzing the findings obtained. From approximately 60 journals, it was found that the sample used was 7 pieces of literature by analyzing the results of the DMFT index and body mass index. The analysis result data is written in descriptive quantitative form. The results of this study showed that the average DMFT index was 0.43 with a 95% CI is (0.38 , 0.49) in underweight children. 0.94 with 95% CI is (0.88 , 1.01) in children of normal weight, 1.20 with a 95% CI is (1.08 , 1.32) in overweight children, and 1.22 with a 95% CI is (1.08 , 1.36) in overweight children. The conclusion of this study is that it is included in the very low-low caries category. Of the four BMI categories, the obesity category has the highest average DMFT index value.
